People usually exclaim that they want to be fit and healthy, and yet they do not exert effort to support this statement. They are not consistent with their attempts and find excuses to support their failures. In order to be fit and have a healthy life, there are some ways for your consideration.

Your first guideline is to avoid stockpiling on junk food around your house. You would contradict your desire to be healthy if you go to the store and buy all your favourite junk food and sweets to keep in your cupboards. Having this kind of food lying around whenever you want them and binge on them is a bad idea and thus you have to control yourself.

Another tip is that you start choosing food that are healthy in general. Sometimes we avoid to realize that there are foods that are in fact junk and not good for your health. We know that several meals to go are awful, and that it would be healthier for us to prepare our own meals. It is good to know what you are putting into your body and you can start by learning to read nutritional labels like the content of sodium and sugar. Make sure you eat lots and lots of vegetables like broccoli, kale and spinach, while at the same time being watchful for more starchy vegetables. We are not saying to live on vegetables and salads alone, but instead go on getting plenty of portions of this food to fill up your day as much as possible.

Humans are built to be moving around and not sit the whole day, so it is advisable to choose an exercise that you like and get on with it. This does not mean punishing yourself on the treadmill for several hours but rather do some body activity that you like and stick to it. Perhaps you may want to visit a dance studio to try dancing, or play a sport you can tackle, or do meditation, and other different kinds of exercise that you like best and find enjoyable enough to stick to it.

You have to find ways to incorporate in your everyday life what is fitness for your body. Take baby steps in aiming to have a different active life, like going for a short walk, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, even parking a little farther from where you are going so you can take the walk, and so on.

Eating right, exercising and develop other healthy habits are your ways to reach another guideline to be healthy and fit, and this is your mental health. It is fine to have some treats, take some rest day and remember to enjoy your life.
